At Vancini Conversions, our Vancini merch was created to bring the spirit of the road to your daily wardrobe. Every custom van build starts with an idea: a destination, a lifestyle, and a different way of travelling, working, and spending time outdoors.
Our collection of custom van life apparel and camper van clothing began in much the same way. We wanted to create more than just a logo printed on a shirt. We wanted each piece of our van life merchandise to capture the feeling behind van life: the freedom of the open road, the landscapes that make us want to keep exploring, and the small moments that turn a trip into an adventure.
Here is a look behind the scenes at how our latest illustrations went from early concepts and sketches to the T-shirts and hoodies available in the Vancini shop.
Starting with the Vancini Merch Story
Before drawing anything, we identified the ideas that best represent Vancini Conversions: adventure, nature, life on the road, custom design, and exploring Ontario’s natural landscapes.
These concepts became the foundation of both illustrations and helped us keep every visual decision connected to the character of the brand.
Rather than creating generic van life merchandise, we wanted the artwork to feel connected to the world around us: Ontario roads, Canadian landscapes, outdoor culture, camper vans, wildlife, camping equipment, and the sense of discovery that comes with travelling somewhere new.
From there, two distinct visual directions began to take shape.
Design One: Welcome to the Adventure
The first design follows a bold, graphic direction inspired by high-contrast ink illustration, comic-style panels, hand-drawn lettering, halftone textures, mountain landscapes, and rugged automotive graphics.
The goal was to create an illustration that would feel strong and expressive while remaining easy to recognize when printed on custom camper van clothing like T-shirts or hoodies.
Its composition brings together several parts of the Vancini story: a mountain landscape, the outline of Ontario, a pair of outdoor boots, a custom camper van, and the message “Welcome to the Adventure.”
Building the Composition
The early stages focused on arranging the different elements into a composition that felt balanced, energetic, and clear from a distance.
The layout was first divided into a series of visual panels. Reference photographs were then placed inside the initial structure to test scale, positioning, and the relationship between the van, the landscape, and the typography.
Once the composition was established, the photographs were translated into simplified, hand-drawn forms. Heavy black areas, irregular lines, graphic shadows, and halftone details gave the final design its distinctive character.
From Illustration to Premium Van Life Apparel
The final artwork was designed to make an impact across different garments. Its strong contrast and vertical composition allow the details to remain visible on both T-shirts and hoodies.
It is a design for people who see the road ahead as more than a route. It is an invitation to keep exploring.
Design Two: A Collection of Canadian Adventures
The second illustration takes a warmer and more playful direction.
The process began by developing a hand-drawn visual language inspired by van-life culture, Canadian nature, and life on the road.
Individual spot illustrations were combined in a modular composition using rough black outlines, textured colour, and a coloured-pencil or wax-crayon finish. This created a result that feels approachable, detailed, and full of personality.
Turning the Vancini World into Individual Illustrations
The artwork began as a collection of objects, animals, landscapes, and details associated with road trips and outdoor life in Ontario and Canada.
Each element tells a small part of a larger story:
- A custom camper van
- Mountains, lakes, waterfalls, and pine trees
- A campfire, canoe, hiking boots, and backpack
- A bear, Canada goose, eagle, and local plants
- A camera, map, compass, and road-trip photographs
- A Canadian flag, maple leaf, and Ontario-inspired details
- Small objects that reflect the everyday rituals of travelling
Together, they create a visual collection of experiences: packing the van, checking the map, finding a new trail, stopping beside a lake, sitting around a fire, and waking up somewhere completely different the next morning.
A Design Full of Details to Discover
The completed artwork feels colourful, approachable, and full of small details. From the custom van and the road-trip photographs to the bear, canoe, campfire, and Canadian plants, every object contributes to the wider Vancini story.
Its modular structure allows the illustration to work across both light and dark garments while preserving the hand-drawn quality of the original artwork.
Designed with the Same Attention as Our Vans
A camper van and a graphic T-shirt may be very different products, but the creative process behind them shares an important principle: the details matter.
Every element in these illustrations was selected, sketched, arranged, and refined to create something cohesive. The vans are not generic vehicles, and the landscapes are not random decorations.
Together, they represent the places we explore, the work we do, and the community surrounding Vancini Conversions.
That is what makes this collection more than standard branded merchandise. It was created as an extension of the Vancini identity and the lifestyle our customers are building toward.
